Physiotherapy at home after a fracture

Recovery is measured in weeks of repetition, not a single appointment.

Walking frame beside a bed, morning light, nobody in frame.

After a fracture, the treating doctor decides when movement can start and how much weight the bone can take. Physiotherapy follows that plan; it does not replace it.

Most of the work is short, regular sessions and simple exercises repeated between them. Doing them at home removes the hardest part for many families: getting someone in pain to a clinic and back.

Ask the physiotherapist to write down the exercises and how often to do them, so whoever is at home can help on the days in between.

Stop and call the doctor if there is new swelling, numbness, a change in colour, or pain that is getting worse rather than better.
